I believe that most behaviors and feelings in the present can be understood in the context of past experiences. By looking at one’s early life with an eye to understanding how those experiences may have felt to a young child, a broader perspective and greater self compassion may be brought to the present.
My work, then is very collaborative. My clients and I attempt to bring a nonjudgmental curiosity to the work of understanding how today’s behaviors and feelings have roots in the past.
I am a certified EMDR therapist and use that modality to help unlock and re-process any trauma and to relieve anxiety, panic, phobia, and depression.
I received my MS in Counseling/Psychology from Villanova University in 1992 and in 1994 completed two Post Graduate certifications from Penn Council for Relationships in “Marital, Family & Sex Therapy” and “Child Focused Therapy & Family-School Consultation.”
I am a National Certified Counselor, a clinical member of AAMFT, an approved AAMFT supervisor, and a certified practitioner of EMDR.
I have been a practicing marriage and family therapist for 20+ years. I have taught couple communication workshops, sexual enrichment courses for couples and therapists, and courses for preparing therapists to take the Marriage and Family Therapy licensure exam. In addition, I have led many groups and been a speaker in churches, schools, and community organizations.
